CrossRail Chicago: Game Changer
November 1, 2013

Taking a page from London, the Midwest High Speed Rail Association has applied the moniker “CrossRail Chicago” to their “game-changing plan for transforming transit in our area.” The plan is strategically incremental, designed to become exponentially more effective with each step completed. The heart of the plan is a trunk line carrying electrified express trains between McCormick Place, Union Station and O’Hare Airport. The link would facilitate new, cross-town commuter trains linking south and northwest suburbs. It would also “set the stage for high-speed rail and more than $16 billion in economic impacts.” A nice map and PDF brochure is at http://www.midwesthsr.org/crossrail-chicago
"Saving the Pennsylvanian (New York-Pittsburgh train) was a local effort but it was tremendously useful to have a national organization [NARP] to call upon for information and support. It was the combination of the local and national groups that made this happen."
